Metamason, 2013 - 2017
Metamason’s healthcare-focused Scan·Fit·Print™ process integrated 3D body scanning, algorithmic design and 3D printing to create the world’s first truly custom respiratory mask for CPAP therapy (Fortune). We executed successful regulatory testing and clinical study. Exploring the limits of combining 3D scanning, generative design, and 3D printing; we authored four utility/design patents for the company around the printing of silicone and generative design from 3D scans to create personalize products.
Incubated by The Design Accelerator (TDA), a partnership of Art Center College and Cal-Tech, Metamason was a member of Singularity University Labs (pitch), as well as Intermountain’s Healthbox 2.0 cohort. I raised a total of $3.8M in funding, won first place in the ‘15 Inside 3D Printing Pitch Competition, was a finalist for both the ‘16 & ‘17 SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards, nominated for the ‘16 SU Global Summit Healthcare Grand Challenge Award, and took first place at the ‘17 3D Heals Pitch Competition. Additionally, I established myself as a thought leader within the 3D space (Huffington Post), propagating Meta-modernism, a scan-to-fit design philosophy for the 4th industrial revolution.
